Love Letters: Bound in Gold Handcuffs

A remarkable collection of previously unpublished correspondence between photographer Lee Miller and Surrealist artist Roland Penrose.
Spanning 1937–1939, the letters reveal their long-distance romance, creative lives and extraordinary social circle - including Picasso and Man Ray - set against the backdrop of Europe on the eve of the Second World War. The book required a level of production that respected both the intimacy of the content and its historical importance.
Produced in a generous 280 x 230mm portrait format, the publication comprised over 400 pages with the main text printed on 150gsm silk to deliver rich image reproduction, complemented by 24 pages on 140gsm uncoated for a more tactile, archival feel. Printing was in full colour throughout, with a special highlight Pantone Gold 871 to accent key elements on page 6.
To ensure longevity and a premium finish, the book was casebound with a section-sewn binding, finished with matt laminated covers and elegant gold foil blocking - details that echo the craftsmanship of the era the letters evoke.
The book delivers exceptional colour fidelity and refined finishing to create a volume that feels both luxurious and authentic, allowing readers to experience these personal letters as treasured artefacts.
